“What should I do, Doctor Smith?! Gym season is coming, but my body, especially my butt, is short of perfection. Butt pimples are happening to me!” I complained.
Yes, I suffered from butt pimples last spring, and I was in the worst state: anxious, desperate, and unconfident.
However, my Doctor seemed relaxed, and he even told me a joke. He said, “butt pimples are what happen when your butt decides to hate you. It rebels by covering itself with inflamed pimples, like an angry teenager. Think of it this way: to some degree, everyone you’ve ever met, including celebrities on TV, has had a butt breakout. Whether it’s severe or slight, it’s irritating. So, believe me, you are not alone.”
And I believed him. Soon, I got my confidence back.
The first thing you need to know is why your butt is breaking out.
Generally speaking, pimples on your butt, sometimes referred to “butt-ne,” are mainly caused by two problems:
As Dr. Jamie Mackelfresh, Dermatologist in Atlanta, GA, says, “Acne-like bumps on the buttocks are caused by inflammation of hair follicles, which is called folliculitis.”
Folliculitis can be caused by blockage of hair follicles, irritation of hair follicles or an infection from bacteria, yeast, or fungus, she adds. Mostly, it stays on the skin surface and tends to be itchy or irritating instead of painful.
According to the American Academy of Family Physicians, carbuncles are more like painful knots of pus under the skin. When folliculitis is out of control and begins to become a deeper infection, carbuncles occur.
OK, here is what you really came here for, your principal concern:
You should firstly determine whether you have folliculitis or carbuncles.
In most cases, folliculitis outbreaks will disappear on their own. If not, you can go to a dermatologist for a combination of products to get rid of folliculitis. “Often, ‘butt acne’ can be treated with a topical antibiotic cream or an antibacterial wash such as one that contains benzoyl peroxide,” says Mackelfresh.
I’ve tried Humane Benzoyl Peroxide 10% Acne Treatment Body & Face Wash (8 Ounce) for about 2 months and it’s great. But, if you have sensitive skin, consult your doctor before usage.
The treatment is more intensive for carbuncles as it is a more severe condition than folliculitis. The dermatologist may prescribe you an oral antibiotic to fight the infection. To drain the accumulated pus, your doctor may also pierce the boil in a sterile environment. Then this area will be covered by a bandage. Remember, never try to drain the pus by yourself at home.
“You can prevent ‘butt acne’ by staying in good health overall,” says MacKelfresh.
When you wash your body everyday, make sure to wash your butt carefully. First, use a washcloth to help exfoliate. This will make your skin super clean and soft. Second, wash your body last because this can stop other products, such as shampoo, from clogging up your pores.
Most of the time, you are busy with moisturizing your face, hands and legs, but what about our your butt? Moisturize it regularly as well. You should pay more attention to it because it’s easily ignored.
In addition, you should avoid heavy lotions, which will clog your pores. Make sure the products you use are non-comedogenic as well.
Nature’s Gate Tea Tree Moisturizing Lotion has natural antibacterial properties and is especially designed for irritated and distressed skin.
I know cotton underwear might not be as beautiful or sexy as other kinds of underwear, but wear it more often. The benefit is obvious for you. It is more breathable and can stop your butt skin from clogging up.
Try the gentlest skincare products that work best on you. Develop good skincare habits.
Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion is one of my favorites. It can moisturize my body for 24 hours. Try it for yourself.
Finally, I sincerely hope that my experience will help you in some degree. Determine the cause, go to your doctor, and develop good habits. I believe you can get your sexy butt back in no time!
